Awards and Prizes
Qualified Boston area groups and organizations are invited to apply for one of several George Henschel Community Award grants that in total will amount to $25,000. Click here for the application. We support organizations dedicated to the performance and composition of serious music — especially chamber music — and to the development of steady, attentive audiences appreciative of this kind of musical experience. Awards from the past 14 years may be viewed here. A selection of the many testimonies to the effectiveness of the Association’s grants begins with one from Music for Food here. The notes of thanks continue with Shelter Music Boston here, Chameleon Arts Ensemble here, and Gran Partita here.
The The HMA High School Achievement Awards acknowledge and encourage the talents of outstanding young musicians of secondary school age. We will consider nominees in Grades nine to twelve, ages fourteen to nineteen, who work in the classical style. Please familiarize yourself with the instructions, appplication, and teacher recommendation form.
The Arthur W. Foote Prize is awarded to performer(s) of the highest musical caliber of university or conservatory level who are about to launch professional music careers. The Foote Prize Committee considers candidates nominated by music faculty at an East Coast University or Conservatory for the $5,000 prize. The application is available here.
